Software development covers engineering roles that are not specifically frontend, backend or full stack: mobile, quality and test automation, security engineering, embedded and firmware, blockchain, and the many postings titled simply "Software Engineer".

Essentially every technology employer hiring remotely posts here. It is the widest engineering category on the board and the natural landing place for a role whose title says what it builds rather than which layer it sits in.

Because this category is broad, read the posting rather than the label. Check the actual stack, whether the role is individual-contributor or leadership, and — for mobile and embedded especially — whether hardware or device testing requires you to be somewhere specific.
